BENIHANA BUCHAREST
Situated in the heart of Bucharest, on the first floor of the Howard Johnson Grand Plaza Hotel, Benihana Restaurant offers authentic Japanese cuisine and an exquisite sushi bar.
The Bucharest branch of the world-renowned Benihana chain fully recreates the distinct oriental atmosphere through the various elements that set up its interior: the traditional Japanese ceramic pots made by Aisaku Suzuki, the authentic kimonos, the fine calligraphy of the haikus on the lighting spots signed Ingo Maurer, the two Gustav Klimt reproductions.
Six skillful Asian chefs prepare the food right in front of your eyes, at the hibachi tables, offering an authentic teppan show, an „eatertainment” experience.
A stop at Benihana is much more than just a lunch or dinner, it is both an entertaining show and a fine culinary experience.
BENIHANA - A SHORT HISTORY
In 1964, a totally new concept in fine dining emerged on the fiercely competitive New York restaurant scene. It was called Benihana of Tokyo, and its founder, a young Japanese Olympic wrestler named Rocky Aoki, has since nurtured his theme into America's Most Popular Family Restaurant, and an international food chain.
The name "Benihana" comes from the poetic Japanese words for red flower, with the origin of the story actually dating back to 1935 when the late Yunosuke Aoki (Rocky's Father) opened a small coffee shop and called it "Benihana" after a wild red flower that grew near the front door.
Benihana's food preparation methods immediately set it apart from other restaurants, as it had no conventional kitchen. Instead, chefs prepared all entrees on the same table, called a "hibachi", around which up to eight guests could be seated. Gas jets, which heat stainless steel cooking surfaces surrounded by board wooden borders, soon became a Benihana trademark.
Reservations recommended at phone number: +4021 201 5030 To meet guests needs who love Japanese cooking but have limited time for lunch or dinner, Benihana Bucharest will introduce a new concept starting this fall: bento box.
